2024 Hetrick-Martin Institute's "School's Out" Benefit

The Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), the nation's oldest LGBTQIA+ youth organization, hosts an annual "School's Out" cocktail party and dinner event to raise funds for its programs. HMI provides services and resources for queer and transgender youth of color between ages 13 and 24.

The cocktail party portion runs from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. It is followed by a VIP "Taste of the Hamptons" dinner featuring dishes prepared by local restaurants such as Duryea's, STK Steakhouse, and Almond.

The primary purpose of the "School's Out" event is to raise money ensuring HMI can continue supporting its young members with resources through the summer months when schools are closed and assistance may be scarce.

In addition to the food and drinks, the event program likely includes speakers, award presentations, and/or musical performances aligned with HMI's mission of empowering LGBTQIA+ youth through arts and advocacy initiatives.

As one of HMI's major annual fundraisers, the "School's Out" benefit attracts sponsors, donors, and attendees from the LGBTQ community as well as allies to contribute to maintaining the organization's comprehensive crisis intervention, literacy, and support services year-round.
